Late 2023 — Unannounced Visit to Neighbor’s Property
The owner of 3310 Grant Valley Road NW reported that two individuals were found standing approximately 50 feet onto his property without prior notice. When approached, one identified himself as Sid Desai, the owner of 3306 Grant Valley Road NW, accompanied by his architect, Rodolfo Castro. They stated they were there to examine the creek. As they had not requested or received permission to enter, they were asked to leave immediately.
July 19, 2024 — Community Outreach to Sid Desai
A group of concerned residents from the Grant Estates neighborhood reached out to Mr. Desai to share concerns regarding the proposed development at 3306. Following a second outreach attempt, Mr. Desai responded, indicating he would be open to a meeting—with his representatives. Since Mr. Desai himself declined to participate directly, the neighbors chose not to proceed with a meeting limited to third-party representatives.
December 17, 2024 — Tree Safety Notification
An email was sent to Mr. Desai alerting him to a marked DDH (dead, dying, or hazardous) tree located at the front of his property (based on a report dated March 29, 2022). The message noted the tree’s significant lean and its apparent risk of falling, shared in good faith and as a neighborly safety concern.
June 9, 2025 - Letter from Attorney Representing Property Owner
Mr. Desai’s attorney, M. Hakim Hilliard, sent a formal letter responding to community concerns. The letter states that the development complies with all legal requirements, asserts that the sycamore tree was never slated for removal, and characterizes the neighborhood campaign as based on misinformation. The letter expresses openness to further dialogue.
June 9, 2025 - Second Letter from Attorney Representing Property Owner
Mr. Hilliard sent a second letter objecting to the use of the email address "schwartz@3306grantvalleyroadnw.com," citing concerns that it could create confusion about affiliation with the property. The letter states that all future correspondence will be sent to the physical address used in our submission to the City of Atlanta, and that they will not respond to communications sent from or referencing the email address in question. While framed as procedural, the tone and content of this letter were perceived by several community members as adversarial rather than collaborative.
